The little things: chapter 2

Chapter 2
Kaitlyn’s POV

*huff**huff* oh shucks. Why me? Why?!! Why is it I’m always late for the first class on the first day of school. This is starting to become a habit for me. I burst into History 101 just as the final bell rings. “I’M HERE! I’’m here..”  I stand there as the entire class stares at me. “ that’s wonderful Ms. Summers. You can take a seat over there. “  I look towards the middle of the room and realize that all the seats in that area were taken. With a sigh I proceeded to the only seat that was vacant. How convenient was it that the chair was located in the front, directly in front of the teacher’s table. Oh joy. How will I sleep now. Oh well, this is gonna be one tough class.
As I listen to Ms. Taylor go on and on about the cold war, I observe my new surroundings. I notice that I knew only about half of the people in this class. Wow. I should go out more often. I guess I was so comfortable just staying at home with Parker and Nina(serena) that I kind of forgot how to go out and “socialize”. Come to think of it, I haven’t been to a single party in ages. Oh, What am I doing with my life. 20 minutes before the class was scheduled to end, Ms. Taylor did something totally unexpected, “Okay class, since this is only your first day, I’m thinking of going easy on you guys. I’m giving you the rest of the class to go around and mingle with your classmates. Provided you minimize your voice.”  What?!? Right when she gave us free time. I knew exactly what would happen. About half of the girls attacked me and bombarded me with endless questions about Parker “ is it true he sleeps shirtless” “ Are you sure you guys are just friends” “whats his favorite food?” and a lot of other ridiculous questions. I tried my best to answer their questions in a polite manner “ sometimes” “pretty sure” “ I don’t know, lasagna??”  Does it get tiring? Yes. Do I always tell them the truth? No. hey, it was their fault for attacking me with their questions rather than go to Parker himself. Tis a day in the life of Kaitlyn summers,  the best friend of the one and only Parker Ryan.
*ring* finally! I quickly grab my things and dash out of that classroom like somebody suddenly contracted the plague. Now I just have to make it through the rest of the day.

Parker’s POV
Finally! Math, why don’t you go find your x and solve your own problems. I highly doubt I’ll use any of this in my future life. Well, 3 more classes to go and it’s lunchtime. Walking down the hallway, I bump into yet another familiar face, Grace.  Grace Ferell is your all around mean girl. Popular, pretty, head cheerleader. With her looks, she can snag just about any guy she wanted. We dated for a short while during the summer but then I saw her transform into one of those overly attached girlfriend types so I just had to dump her. Hey, a guy needs his space. Well rumor is, she’ll do anything to get me back.
Oh crap she’s headed this way. Just walk slowly. No eye contact. Just make it to second period and you’re home free. “HEY PARKER!”  damnit. She saw me. Now what do I do. Okay parker, act cool “hey there grace. Have you lost wait. Oops I think I hear the bell. Gotta go, don’t wanna be late for second period.” Smooth. Now I’m half walking half running until she suddenly pounces in front of me and made me almost fall over “are you ignoring me?? I thought you loved me?” is this girl crazy or what? “grace, I thought I already told you. I don’t want to be with you anymore. You have to find someone else.” She then grabs my arms and starts shaking me “ but I don’t wanna be with anyone else. I want to be with you”  Okay. I better break up this little cry fest, people are starting to stare. But how exactly.
And as usual, just as things were starting to get loud. Out of nowhere appears Kaitlyn. Seriously, This girl always has excellent timing. She gives me a look as I mouth help me. Our ways of unspoken communication has its perks. She casually strolls over to where we are standing and (with flair, might I add) pulls grace apart from my shaking arms, looks her in the eye and recites her usual premade bad breakup bailout speech
“Okay, I know this is hard for you. But listen. You have just broken up from the fabulous Parker Ryan. Although it may seem like the world is ending, don’t worry. It’s not. So what I need you to do is get your little booty out of here and go find yourself a man who could put up with all the drama you have in your life”. And almost like magic, Grace stares at kaitlyn, then at me and quietly walks in the other direction slowly disappearing from our sight. “ and that my dear parker, is how it is done”.  i felt almost obligated to bow down and kiss he ground she walks on. “Thank you thank you thank you. I have no idea what I’ll do without you. Youre a lifesaver!”  I pulled her into a bearhug and messed up her hair, the way I always did ever since we started kindergarten. “yea, yea, save it for wheni have a video camera on. For now, let’s just try to get to class” agreed, at least let me give you a ride, for old time sake”  she smiles at me with her signature grin as she hops on my back with my backpack on her back. “you good up there Katie?” “ready as always” “ok then. Onwards to adventure” “To infinity and beyond.”
I race down the hall with my bestfriend on my shoulders and not a care in the world.
